As always, good quality meal , fair price , wonderful staff, never disappointed. Superb carvery , and lots of lovely cakes and puddings .
Great carvery tonight, tasty food with a good selection of meats and veg. Polite, helpful Staff and a very reasonable price. Desert was a little disappointing but that may be down to personal taste. All in all a good night. I would come again.
I had a really nice carvery. One of the few places where the beef didn't feel like I was chewing a piece of rubber. Lovely vegetables and deserts. A very nice atmosphere. I will definitely come here again.
Very disappointed. I asked if I could have a child's portion of roast, and was informed that there was one price only for over 12's. I explained that I was going dancing and that therefore I only wanted a small portion. They said I could have a small portion but I would be charged adult price!! On asking why they no longer did a child's price for an adult, they explained that too many people would mound up the plate. Shame on you greedy people, who ruin it for the small eaters and pensioners that don't have a big appetite, for your greed you are making us pay!! However I do feel The Shires could come up with a system that is fairer to all. Maybe have the till at the end of the carvery, so each plate can be seen before going to the table and paid for according to how mounted up it is. Or have someone serve out the veg on each plate, like the meat, thereby rationing portions
Great place to eat. Lovely carvery. Always 3 types of meat and you can have all three and plenty of vegetables. Plenty of room but it get busy so best to book in advance.
